160 Year Old Flag

Image result for 160 year old flag
A 160 year old flag has been given back to Kingitanga by the Anglican Church.

This flag dates back from the time of the first Maori king,  Pōtatau Te Wherowhero and has been given back to them after the Anglican Church had forgotten that they had it for over 100 years.

The current Maori Kings' son has been given the Taonga on behalf of Kingitanga at a ceremony.

The origin of the flag is unclear as it may have been made for as a pall for the death of Pōtatau.

Kayaking

Today was my first time going kayaking.

First we had to put our swimming clothes then our wet suits with some shoes. We then got our kayaks and paddles then went away like a plane.

We had to go around a little course then come back to shore and get changed in time for the bus to go back home for our lunch break.

I felt nervous at the start but then had a great time, besides tipping over 6 times it was so cold. Hope we could go back again.

Antarctic Blast

Snow at a Mamaku property this morning. Photo / Bron FleetAntarctic Blast hitting the Bay Of Plenty, with snow falling from the sky in Mamaku near Rotorua. The pupils of Mamaku woke up to a thick layer of snow out their windows carpeting the landscape.

This comes known as heavy snow warnings and watches are in place for the central North Island. Mt Ngongotaha had some snow dusting as well.
